DIY: Custom Mugs

Final Image - How to Decorate a Coffee Mug Using a Porcelain Marker
I'm a huge fan of coffee, diy and making your home pinterest approved. This tutorial fuses all three of those things plus it includes monsters. SOLD. It's super easy and gives a creative personal touch to something very generic. It also breaks it down so even the less artistic can make something super awesome! Here we go.

DIY: Elbow Patches.

Hey guys! So, basically I'm really obsessed with elbow patches, and it's finally the time of year where you can wear cardigans and such and not have to have nine coats over it. That's why today I'm going to show you the EASIEST way to give your cardigan or sweater or what ever a super easy makeover.

What you need:
-2 fabrics of your choice (you can just go pick up 2 "fat quarters" quilters use if you like)
-Stitch witchery
-Scissors
-Iron
-What ever your elbow patching up

First, you need to cut your fabric. I chose to do a triangle but you can do any shape you'd like. (It's hard to mess up a triangle =] ) After you cut your shape out of both fabrics, cut stitch witchery the same size as your fabric pieces.
Next, lay out your sweater (face down) and place the first triangle down on your fabric with the SW between the two. Press until the edges of the triangle are all glued down.
Then repeat the fabric, SW, sweater sandwich with the next triangle and press.
Do the other elbow and BAM you're done.
It literally is that easy.

Recipe: Iced Coffee

Today, I thought I'd share a little barista knowledge with you, how to make amazing iced coffee. The when you make this, you don't "burn" any caffeine off of the beans using scalding water. So, it's about 3x the amount of a normal cup of coffee. What I'm saying is, don't drink it on an empty stomach and don't drink loads of it unless you plan on hating your life and then dying. Just kidding. BUT it will give you a killer stomach ache if you drink like 20 ounces of it. Hello, Shakes. DRINK IN MODERATION PEOPLE. One of the benefits is it's less acidic and so smooth and amazing. It also keeps for about a week in the fridge so you can grab a glass on your way to work or class all week! ENJOY!!

Kick Off!

Hi All!
I'm really excited to get back in the blogging game! The reason I'm starting this new blog is because of a study I'm taking part in for my school. It's called "the fashion detox". Basically, what that means is I can't buy clothes for THIRTEEN WEEKS. Yep. 1-3, 13. That's quite a while. However, I can make anything I want or I can thrift. I think it'll be really great because it'll really challenge me creatively and use up a lot of my fabric stash in my closet that is a little on the over flowing side. I'm supposed to post once a week on my blog about how things are going. I'm also planning on throwing a few diy's and that sort of thing on here as well! I'll be tagging all my posts for school with DETOX so my Professor can find them easier and you will too!

For this first post I'm going to do a fashion mixology from one of my favorite blogs A Beautiful Mess. I'll go over more of the looks later but they partnered up with Libby Store and I love what the girls ended up doing with the pieces! Here's a quick look at all eight looks!
