DIY: Elbow Patches.

Hey guys! So, basically I'm really obsessed with elbow patches, and it's finally the time of year where you can wear cardigans and such and not have to have nine coats over it. That's why today I'm going to show you the EASIEST way to give your cardigan or sweater or what ever a super easy makeover.

What you need:
-2 fabrics of your choice (you can just go pick up 2 "fat quarters" quilters use if you like)
-Stitch witchery
-Scissors
-Iron
-What ever your elbow patching up

First, you need to cut your fabric. I chose to do a triangle but you can do any shape you'd like. (It's hard to mess up a triangle =] ) After you cut your shape out of both fabrics, cut stitch witchery the same size as your fabric pieces.
Next, lay out your sweater (face down) and place the first triangle down on your fabric with the SW between the two. Press until the edges of the triangle are all glued down.
Then repeat the fabric, SW, sweater sandwich with the next triangle and press.
Do the other elbow and BAM you're done.
It literally is that easy.

Mixology looks five and six

Look five: I love everything about this. The high-low dress with long sleeves. The boots.. The vest... maybe not the witch hat but anyway. This is my favorite look of the eight, hands down.

Look Six: I love how they used the maxi skirt as a "tube dress" and changed up the length on the skirt. Straight crafty people, straight crafty.

Mixology looks three and four

Look Three: Obviously a sucker for the ombre jeans here again. I also just want to slightly mention VEST. Too... soon? Too... loud? Since I can't buy these babies anymore there may be a slight moment of weakness when I take a pair of scissors to some sleeves and be left with awkward cutoffs. Will I care? I'm not sure, It's too soon to tell. By the end of this I could be looking like a real fly hobo that showers often.

Look Four: First off, home girl looks like Demi Lovato here so I obviously like it regardless of how much I actually like it in real life. I'm down with the maxi, but the jacket scarf combo I'm not really feeling. You live in California lady, no need to zip up that jacket all the way. (I'm actually pretty sure they live in Missouri, I just really am missing my sweet, sweet, San Diego.) I do however, think it's great for a picnic... As you can see by my roll over addition. =)

Mixology looks One & Two

What I really like about this look is that it's girly but without a whole bunch of frills. It uses boots but with a cooler feel than what we've been wearing in the winter. I'm also 100% obsessed with the denim jacket. These ombre jeans are amazing. These make me really want to try a DIY with a pair I have! I also never think of actually wearing skirts as shirts even though half the time when I'm shopping I pick it up and look at the tag to double check what that the skirt is actually a skirt. This look has two of the same elements as the one before but is more casual.

Kick Off!

Hi All!
I'm really excited to get back in the blogging game! The reason I'm starting this new blog is because of a study I'm taking part in for my school. It's called "the fashion detox". Basically, what that means is I can't buy clothes for THIRTEEN WEEKS. Yep. 1-3, 13. That's quite a while. However, I can make anything I want or I can thrift. I think it'll be really great because it'll really challenge me creatively and use up a lot of my fabric stash in my closet that is a little on the over flowing side. I'm supposed to post once a week on my blog about how things are going. I'm also planning on throwing a few diy's and that sort of thing on here as well! I'll be tagging all my posts for school with DETOX so my Professor can find them easier and you will too!

For this first post I'm going to do a fashion mixology from one of my favorite blogs A Beautiful Mess. I'll go over more of the looks later but they partnered up with Libby Store and I love what the girls ended up doing with the pieces! Here's a quick look at all eight looks!
